Mardi Gras Martial Arts Championships 2025 part of Sydney Mardi Gras Festival 2024. In the spirit of building an LGBTIQA+ global Martial Arts community, MGMAC will offer a multi-style Martial Arts Tournament to promote sporting excellence in the Martial Arts within the lgbti community and its allies.
The Tournament will be held on Saturday the 15th of February

Tournament Director Penny Gulliver - 6th Dan Black Belt and Chief Instructor GLMA Martial Arts - founded the championships to welcome the global sporting village to Sydney as part of World Pride 2023 & Mardi Gras 2024. This will be Penny's the third tournament as founder and director. preparing an Australian team to be a force in Gay Games, Valencia, Spain, 2026.
This exciting and innovative event is part of The Mardi Gras Festival 2025
will bring athletes, ideas and energy from around Australia -and locally, and possibly internationally.
The Tournament is FREE to come as a spectator and $100 to enter as a participant with unlimited entries to events participants qualify for Registration will open Thursday the 24th of October 2024 - An early bird rate of $90 will be offered until 31st of December 2024 –
Medals will be presented for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Place and a Trophy's will include the club or individual with the most diversity initiatives and have travelled the greatest distance.
Rules and categories will be organised with the guidelines of The International Association of Gay and Lesbian Martial Artists [IAGLMA] www.iaglma.org -- the organisation that traditionally runs the Martial Arts Events Multi Style Events at The Gay Games since the 1980s.with some rule modifications to include Continuous Sparring categories - which was popular with spectators at the last tournament
Outreach both locally, nationally, and internationally will be focused on, to get participation and networking from all over the interstate communities with Transgender participation particularly targeted.

*While some of the competitive divisions are separated by gender in many categories, all members of the LGBTQIA+ community- and allies are welcome to participate in all experience, age, (will be sorted after registration ) qualifying categories and may self-identify and sign up to participate in the divisions that fit and work for them and they feel comfortable in.
